Google Analytics is one of the most robust and functional website analytics programs available today. There are two versions of Google Analytics: one which is free and adequate for most websites and advertisers needs, the other is an enterprise version for extremely large and highly trafficked websites. For most advertisers the free version of analytics has all the features and tools needed for accurately reporting on website user behavior, such as: where the traffic comes from, what type of traffic converts and much more.

Did you know that there are additional components that can be “unlocked”? Google Analytics works well alone and even better when it is integrated with other google services like AdWords and Google Webmaster Tools.
Why Link Analytics To AdWords?
When you link Analytics to you Adwords account, analytics data from your website becomes available to you as a free integrated service. The data that now shows in Analytics can be configured to show data such as: ROI, pages per visit, time on site and more. This analytics data allows website owners to make more meaningful and informed decisions regarding the success of their AdWords campaigns.
Incorporate Webmaster Tools Into Analytics
Google webmaster tools is a product that helps website owners list their sites properly on google. Google Webmaster Tools is a one stop spot where a site owner can upload XML sitemaps, scan their site for errors, and much more. When Google Analytics and Webmaster Tools are integrated together a wealth of information is unlocked. Data on the average position of where a site shows in search rankings on Google and the search queries the site shows for in search engines become accessible.
To link Google Master Tools to an Analytics account a website owner must first be signed up to both products. Once both products are linked, then go to your Google Analytics Account and follow these instructions:
- On navigation bar at the top of the page click the ‘Standard Reporting’ tab.
- The left hand side navigation has a section titled, “Traffic Sources,” click to open.
- Below “Traffic Sources” is a link to “Search Engine Optimization.”
- Follow the steps to link accounts.
